Lopez waiting for big offer

Diego Lopez will only leave Real Madrid if he receives an offer of a big contract, according to reports in Spain.

It’s been claimed that Madrid want to sign Levante’s Keylor Navas and will let Lopez go, leaving the Costa Rica international to compete with captain Iker Casillas.

But Lopez doesn’t want to move elsewhere and will only do so if he receives what AS describe as a ‘dizzying’ offer – in the region of €5m per year at least.

Lopez has three years remaining on his Madrid contract, having moved to Santiago Bernabeu from Sevilla in January 2013.

He initially deputised for an injured Casillas but eventually replaced Casillas under Jose Mourinho, with Carlo Ancelotti persisting last season with Lopez as first-choice for the League.

Casillas took the gloves in Cup competitions and Madrid duly won them both, claiming the Copa del Rey and the Champions League.

Marca further report that Lopez’s agent has denied interest from Napoli and stressed his client’s intention to stay put.

“He wants to be the starter for Real Madrid and will work as hard as ever for it. He will put all his ability in to serve the club,” Manolo Garcia Quilon is quoted as saying.

“Napoli haven’t asked for him. He will again convince the Madrid coaching staff that he is a Real Madrid goalkeeper.”
