Low warns against Messi focus

Germany Coach Joachim Low has advised his players not to be unduly focused on Argentina captain Lionel Messi in the World Cup final.

The countries meet in tonight’s decisive fixture and Low has spoken at a Press conference to preview the showpiece game.

Marca reports the Coach as warning that Argentina have plenty more weapons than the Barcelona forward, and as good as Messi is, doesn’t want his players only thinking of him.

“This team is not just Messi. There are players like Di Maria, Higuain, Aguero…they don’t only depend on Messi,” Low said.

“It’s true Messi can decide a game…but this team is organised and they have shown that in the World Cup.”

Low added that it’s natural for a team to reach the World Cup final on the back of some unconvincing performances, stressing that it’s unrealistic to expect seven perfect games.

“No team advances to the final in this tournament with seven beautiful victories,” he said.

“You always have to fight and overcome setbacks. That’s what happened against Algeria.

“But that’s healthy in a tournament like this. I don’t think that any champion could have played well in every game.”
