Liverpool still hopeful on Alexis

Liverpool still want to sign Alexis Sanchez as part of Luis Suarez’s move to Barcelona but the Chile forward hasn’t made a decision on his next step.

AS reports that Liverpool see Alexis as a good foil for Daniel Sturridge, with Suarez’s move to Camp Nou agreed in principle. What remains is for the terms of the deal to be finalised, specifically how Barca will pay the €79.5m fee.

Including the €30m-rated Alexis in the deal would limit the cash Barca would have to splash to get Suarez but with the likes of Atletico Madrid, Arsenal, Manchester City and Juventus said to be interested in Alexis, the proposal is far from straightforward.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been in contact with Alexis over the phone and it’s thought Alexis is leaning towards a move to the Emirates Stadium.

He had been expected to return to Italy with Juve, having come to prominence with Udinese prior to joining Barca.

The next few days will prove crucial to Alexis’ future, it’s claimed, as the player, his agent and representatives from Barca will meet to discuss all the offers on the table.

Barca will push Alexis to accept the offer from Liverpool to aide their signing of Suarez, but Alexis’ stance on the matter is still unclear.
