Sergi Roberto is in no hurry to sign a new contract with Barcelona as he waits to discover his role in the squad under Luis Enrique.
His contract expires next summer and Barca want the 22-year-old to extend his deal, with AS claiming La Blaugrana are getting impatient at the delay.
It’s said that Enrique has told Sergi he will be part of the squad for next season but he wants to know more about the position the new Coach sees for him.
Sergi will get his chance in pre-season, it’s predicted, and Barca have ruled out selling him on a permanent basis.
Last season it appeared Sergi would be a regular feature under Tata Martino but his minutes were restricted by the competition for places in midfield and the same is possible for the coming campaign after the signing of Ivan Rakitic.
There are teams interested in signing Sergi but he could leave for free in 12 months, something Barca are looking to avoid.
