Espanyol defender Hector Moreno has suffered a fractured tibia during Mexico’s World Cup defeat against the Netherlands.
Mundo Deportivo reports that the injury came as the centre-back made a challenge to prevent Arjen Robben scoring what would have been the opening goal of the game.
Moreno was arguably fortunate not to give away a penalty in the incident, but had to be stretchered off as a result.
MD add that Moreno tried to get back to his feet but was unable to and was taken to a nearby hospital for further tests to determine the extent of the injury.
