Aguero talks up ‘awesome’ Messi

Sergio Aguero has talked up Lionel Messi’s second World Cup goal against Bosnia, describing it as ‘awesome’.

The Barcelona striker scored for the first time in the tournament since 2006 last week in the 2-1 win over the Eastern European’s.

And with the former Ballon d’Or winner on track, the Manchester City goalscorer is confident that Argentina can go far.

“People have talked too much about the eight-year gap between his first and second [World Cup] goals,” he told The Times of India.

“Yes, he did not score in the 2010 World Cup, but he played wonderfully well, assisting so many goals for others.

“It is important to think that Argentina wins, because as an individual one tries nothing more than to achieve the best possible result for the team.

“Leo has been fantastic so far. The goal he had scored against Bosnia was an awesome strike. We were happy too, since we all knew what he is capable of doing.

“Every team will welcome a goal at that stage of the match. Since it was the first match of the World Cup, we all wanted to start it in a positive way.”
