Messi ‘would love’ Higuain at Barca

Lionel Messi has said he would be delighted to see Argentina teammate Gonzalo Higuain move to Barcelona.

The former Real Madrid striker, now at Napoli, has been strongly linked with a return to La Liga, and suggested he would be open to the move.

Messi has said at a Press conference to preview Argentina’s next World Cup game that he has spoken to Higuain about the prospect of teaming up at club level.

“I’ve talked to [Higuain] and the truth is I would love him to come to Barcelona and have him as a partner for the club,” Messi said.

“We’d do fine. He’s the best.”

Messi also paid tribute to current Barca teammate Neymar, who leads the Brazil attempt to win the World Cup.

“He’s a wonderful person and a great teammate. We compete in sport with Brazil but we’re not all rivals,” Messi said.

He was also asked about La Albiceleste’s first game of the tournament, the 2-1 win over Bosnia-Herzegovina, in which he scored the winning goal.

“Things weren’t right in the first half against Bosnia and that annoyed me,” Messi admitted.

“It was different in the second. With [Fernando] Gago we had more of the ball.”
