Ancelotti on Morata, Iker & Ronaldo

Carlo Ancelotti has spoken about a number of issues at Real Madrid, including Alvaro Morata and Iker Casillas and the fitness of Cristiano Ronaldo.

AS reports Ancelotti as confirming the intention is for Casillas to remain at the club this summer, although he couldn’t say the same about Morata.

“We haven’t thought about [Casillas or Diego Lopez] because after the victory [in the Champions League final] everyone went on holiday,” he began.

“Casillas is very happy to stay here. He is very happy to stay and we are very happy for him to stay.

“Morata wants to look for a club where he will get more minutes and so we’ve agreed to this.

“If he is looking for a chance to play it would be a good opportunity to go for a year. If Morata goes we’ll have to think about getting a forward with the same characteristics, someone young.”

Ancelotti was also asked if there was any chance Angel Di Maria could follow Morata out of the club but dismissed the suggestion.

“I think Di Maria knows very well what everyone wants. What the Coach wants, the club, the fans…I think he has no doubt about that,” the Italian continued.

“I’m not concerned about transfers. I believe that if we can improve the team we will do, and if we can’t, I’m happy with this team.

“I think we have to remember that this season we haven’t had Sami Khedira, but he has recovered well and he’ll start [next year] with us.

“The choice of midfielders will be better with Khedira. Then we’ll see what happens. He’s a very good player.”

Ancelotti was also asked about the status of Ronaldo after he ended the season with an injury that hampered his World Cup preparations.

“I haven’t talked to [Portugal’s doctor] but with Cristiano. A week ago he was fine and doing individual work. In a week he’ll be back to normal,” Ancelotti predicted.

Ancelotti took Madrid to victory in the Champions League in his first season at the club but asked if the target for next season is to win all six trophies available, the former Paris Saint-Germain boss suggested the club would settle for less.

“I don’t remember much of the final. I was concentrating on the game,” he said.

“We have the possibility of six titles but it won’t be easy. We have two objectives. Being competitive is what we want.”

It was a less successful season for Madrid’s B team, Real Madrid Castilla, who were relegated from the Segunda this weekend.

“We aren’t happy with their demotion,” Ancelotti confirmed.

“They’ve suffered more. They had recovered well from a bad start.”

And with the World Cup to come, Ancelotti was questioned both about this tournament and his prospects of taking over as Italy Coach one day.

“A Spain-Italy final would be difficult, especially for Italy, but I wish Spain the best,” he said.

“Right now I’m happy to work every day and that’s how I feel.

“I want to keep coaching a club team. I feel good in Madrid, obviously. I like Madrid and I prefer to be here a long time.

“As an Italian, I aspire to be the Coach.”
