Atletico considering Vidal bid?

Atletico Madrid are weighing up whether or not to make an offer for Juventus’ Chile midfielder Arturo Vidal.

AS claim the champions are looking into Vidal’s availability and could make an approach for the former Bayer Leverkusen man to fill the gap that will be left by Tiago’s move to Chelsea.

A price tag of €40m is mooted and it’s said that Atletico have been in contact with Vidal’s agent as Diego Simeone looks for an experienced midfielder for next season.

A meeting between Vidal’s representative and the Atleti hierarchy could be held in the coming week, although thrashing out a deal for the player would not be easy.

Real Madrid are also in the market for Vidal and would rival any offer from Los Rojiblancos, although Atletico could be helped by the other business they are looking to conclude.

Diego Costa is due to join Chelsea and Atleti had earmarked a chunk of money to buy a replacement, but could instead take Romelu Lukaku on loan from the Blues.

If the Belgian did join on a temporary basis then the money set aside to buy a striker could be put towards the Vidal deal.

Atletico aren’t in a hurry to move for Vidal as they feel his stature is already such that even a strong showing at the World Cup couldn’t increase his value.
