Bayern Munich midfielder Franck Ribery could be forced out of the World Cup with a back problem, according to reports in France.
AS claim that French television revealed Ribery on Saturday underwent a medical examination at a hospital in Paris, but there has been no update on his condition.
Ribery told German publication Bild that he was in the dark over his status, but admitted there was a concern.
“I don’t know yet, but the situation is complicated,” he said.
Ribery has missed both of France’s pre-World Cup friendlies so far, the 4-0 win over Norway and the 1-1 draw with Paraguay.
France are in Group E for the World Cup, drawn with Switzerland, Ecuador and Honduras. The Central Americans are Les Bleus’ first opponents, on June 15.
