Moreno ‘will join Liverpool’

Alberto Moreno will leave Sevilla for Liverpool, reports in Spain have claimed, but only when the Premier League side increase their offer.

AS says that Sevilla are braced for the departure of the left-back after the Reds put on the table €20m plus the loan of Suso.

Sevilla sporting director Monchi has informed Liverpool that the club are not interested in taking Suso and so Liverpool will have to up their bid to €22m.

Los Rojiblancos will sell Moreno to fund their incoming transfers for the summer but there is the chance that Chelsea could rival Liverpool for the Spain international.

The Blues have prioritised a new left-back and while Atletico Madrid’s Filipe Luis is understood to be Jose Mourinho’s first choice, should that deal break down, the Portuguese will turn to Moreno.

Chelsea watched Moreno through last season but will discard their interest in Moreno if Filipe moves to Stamford Bridge.

AS add that part of the reason Sevilla are willing to sell Moreno is they believe Liverpool have bid substantially more than the player’s true value.

Moreno is considered a good player and one who has developed quickly, but not truly worth the sum on offer.

Sevilla would look to sign a goalkeeper, a centre-back and a couple of attacking midfielders with the Moreno money, and possibly a left-back to replace the Merseyside-bound 21-year-old.
