Benzema ‘would love’ Pogba in Madrid

Karim Benzema hopes France colleague Paul Pogba swaps Juventus for Real Madrid this summer.

The midfielder has been mentioned as a transfer target for Los Blancos and when asked about it, Benzema welcomed the prospect of linking up with Pogba at Santiago Bernabeu.

“He’s a young player playing at a big European club. He gets better with each game and he’s at a high level and will continue to work hard,” Marca reports Benzema as saying.

“I would love him to leave for Madrid, because he’s French and can become a great player.”

Benzema also shared the latest on his fitness after he ended the season carrying a groin strain.

“I feel good. There’s no reason to worry and the injury is progressing well,” he added.

“I’m in recovery. By Sunday I’ll be very close. I want to get back to the group on Wednesday.

“I have no new pains. The abductor is always a bit tricky. I’ll get better today and hopefully [return to training].”
