It is being reported that Luis Suarez could be at risk of missing out on the World Cup after suffering an apparent knee injury.
The 27-year-old Uruguayan, whose stellar form for Liverpool this season has led him to be linked with a big money move to Barcelona or Real Madrid, may even undergo surgery today according to a report by Marca.
According to sources close to the player, Suarez yesterday felt some pain in his knee while training with his international teammates and explained the problem to medics.
He then underwent testing and the results were not good, though Uruguay are still confident he will be fit in time to lead the line in Brazil.
“According to the report I received, we are optimistic he can reach the World Cup,” Uruguayan national team secretary Roberto Pastoriza told the country’s El Pais newspaper.
