Barcelona have confirmed that Lionel Messi has agreed an extension with the club, and will sign a contract within days.
The Argentina international has been in negotiations with the Blaugrana for months now, with the former Ballon d’Or winner insistent that he earns more than Neymar.
Talks have, reportedly, been difficult, but the Catalan giants have announced this morning that they have come to an agreement with the 26-year-old and his representatives.
Messi’s current contract doesn’t expire until 2018, and this new deal is set to be just a one-year extension.
The big difference however, is his pay packet, with the record-breaking goalscorer now set to earn an alleged €20m per season.
It's great news for Tata Martino's men ahead of their Liga decider against Atletico Madrid tomorrow.
