Neymar deal affects ‘financial stability’

Barcelona’s Vice-President of the institutional sector Carles Vilarrubi has revealed that the Neymar signing has affected their ‘financial stability’.

The Brazil international joined the Blaugrana from Santos last summer, with reports varying as to how much he actually cost.

The initial fee was fore around €50m, but after former President Sandro Rosell was forced to resign following alleged misappropriation of funds, the actual figure could be more around the €100m mark.

And the board member has admitted that those factors, plus the fact the move happened a year earlier than planned has had an impact.

“The Neymar deal has affected our financial stability,” he told reporters at a book launch.

“Pressure from another club led us to sign him a year earlier. This fact has affected the club's financial stability.”
