Javi Martinez wants to leave Bayern Munich, reports in the German Press have revealed this afternoon.
The former Athletic Bilbao man joined the Bavarian giants in 2012 for a club record €40m. His first season at the Allianz Arena saw an unprecedented treble, as the 25-year-old became an integral part of Jupp Heynckes’ side.
This term, under new boss Pep Guardiola though, the Spain international has been a peripheral figure, consistently being left on the bench for the big games.
As such, Bild report on Tuesday that Martinez has asked his agent to tell the board that he wants to leave Germany for pastures new.
The news is likely to interest Barcelona, who have been linked with the versatile midfielder in recent months.
