Neymar aiming for final Barca fixture

Neymar has confirmed he hopes to be fit for Barcelona last League game of the season after suffering bruising to his foot.

The injury is said to have occurred in the Copa del Rey final and the Brazil international is expected to be missing for the next four weeks.

But according to Sport, Neymar has told Brazilian television station Globo that he will try and be back to play Atletico Madrid on May 18.

“I knew it could be a long time out and I was a little scared. I don’t like it in any way and then there’s the World Cup, of course,” Neymar said.

“But I can return within three weeks and hope I can play in Barcelona’s last match.

“There’d been swelling that had bothered me for some time. The most I could do was get to that game. I was bothered a lot and had difficulty walking after.”

Sport adds that Neymar is expected to maintain his fitness in the swimming pool and that the medical department of the Brazil national team has been in contact with their Barcelona counterparts.

“It’s horrible to be out, without training or playing,” Neymar added.

“You watch your teammates playing, training, as a team but you’re not doing anything.

“Doing nothing is the worst feeling for a player.

“My appetite is even greater after the Cup final. My willpower and desire to play mean I won’t miss the World Cup.”
