Pizzi: Valencia believe in comeback

Juan Antonio Pizzi has insisted his Valencia side believe they can come back from 3-0 down in the Europa League against Basel.

The Swiss side took what looks to be a commanding lead from the first-leg between the sides but Pizzi told a pre-match Press conference that belief is the key.

Asked how Los Che will approach the game, Marca reports Pizzi insisted they have faith in themselves.

“We’ll start the usual way and believe that we can do it,” the Coach said.

“It’s the first thing we must be clear about. We spoke after Sunday’s game and believe that we can get back in it and no one can deprive us of having the dream and hope of reversing the result.

“We want to do it, we have shown that we can and we need to do it.”

Pizzi was asked if he or the players had watched Borussia Dortmund’s attempt to do likewise against Real Madrid in the Champions League.

The German side won 2-0 on the night but it wasn’t enough to overturn Los Blancos’ 3-0 first-leg advantage.

“We haven’t talked about it. But it was an epic game for the Germans. They did well,” Pizzi replied.

“Many people have had similar experiences and that feeds us to believe we can overturn the tie.”
