Gabi: We’ve drawn the best

Atletico Madrid captain Gabi believes that his side have drawn ‘the best team’ in Barcelona for the Champions League quarter-finals.

The Spanish giants were handed a Last Eight clash during the draw in Nyon this afternoon.

And the Rojiblancos midfielder has conceded that his men will have to be at the top of their game if they are to overcome the Blaugrana.

“In Barcelona, we've drawn the best team,” he told reporters.

“They have shown why over the past years, but we will have our chances [against them]. We are going to fight. They are the favourites [to go through].

“If I were to say that Atlético were favourites, people would tell me I was crazy. The first game [at Camp Nou] will be decisive. We are not going to change [our style].

“We will play for our lives at Camp Nou. We have a lot of hard work ahead of us.

“[David Villa] has extensive experience of these types of games and this one was always going to be special for him. We want to do the best that we can.

“Against a team as powerful as Barcelona it will be hard, especially away from home. Their statistics over the past decade make Barça favourites, although people are going to accuse me of playing the victim.

“We are a physically powerful side and will prepare for these games as we have the previous ones.”
