Barca’s Villa signing investigated

The details surrounding Barcelona’s signing of David Villa from Valencia are to be investigated in court, it has been reported.

El Pais claims that former Valencia President Manuel Llorente and former vice-president Javier Gomez, currently director general of La Liga, have been named in court documents after lawsuit by Andres Sanchis, a former Valencia shareholder.

“The signing has very strange things,” Sanchis said of Villa’s more to Barca.

Former Barca president Joan Laporta is said to have made a statement confirming Villa’s signing cost €50m, while his successor Sandro Rosell said Barca paid €40m.

Villa changed agents prior to the transfer, joining a company headed by a former Valencia employee and leaving his long-term representative, who was told by a court he was not entitled to any cut of the transfer.
