Madrid confident over Benzema fitness

Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema is expected to be fit to play Barcelona on Sunday.

The France international was injured in Madrid’s 1-0 win over Malaga on Saturday and missed the Champions League second leg tie with Schalke on Tuesday.

Benzema is suffering from a quadriceps injury, according to AS, but is now pain free in the area and has been able to work in the gym and carry out light training.

The swelling in the area is said to have gone down and AS claims that is a good sign for the forward, who would be expected to line up for Carlo Ancelotti’s side if fit and available.
