Barcelona’s Lionel Messi has described his team’s match with Real Madrid this weekend as a ‘unique opportunity.’
The Catalan side trail their arch rivals by four points heading into the match at the Bernabeu and can scarcely afford to lose any more ground in the title race.
“We have got a unique opportunity to get ourselves closer to Madrid and Atletico,” Messi is quoted as saying by Marca.
“We are visiting Madrid and they are a great team.
“It’s going to be extremely difficult but it depends on us and we can do it.”
The Argentine then answered questions about his long term future.
“My intention is to retire here,” he said. “As long as people want me here I will continue to play for Barcelona.”
