Rodgers to Barca?

Barcelona are keeping tabs on Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers with a view to Tata Martino’s successor, reports in England have said.

The Sunday People claims the Camp Nou hierarchy are aware of the delay in Rodgers’ contract extension talks at Anfield and consider Rodgers a contender to replace Martino this summer.

Martino is expected to leave Barca at the end of the season, the report goes on, and with Rodgers in the final year of his deal, the former Swansea City boss could be targeted as the Argentine’s replacement.

Rodgers is said to be a Spanish speaker and was on the shortlist of Manchester City to replace Roberto Mancini before City plumped for former Malaga Coach Manuel Pellegrini.

The Northern Irishman on Sunday guided Liverpool to a 3-0 win over Premier League champions Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Liverpool are second in the League, a point behind Chelsea.
