‘I couldn’t choose between WC & CL’

Karim Benzema has refused to choose between winning the World Cup with France or the Champions League with Real Madrid.

The striker has joined up with Les Bleus for their friendly with the Netherlands on Wednesday, but has failed to answer which trophy he’d prefer to win this year.

“I can't choose between them, both are very important. Club and country are very different things,” he told reporters.

“In one we train every day and in the other we don't.  But winning both is possible.

“Player dream of playing in the World Cup and to win it you have to be in top form when it comes around.”

The Blancos goalscorer then commented on his own personal form, and the confidence Carlo Ancelotti has given him.

“I'm on a good run of form, in tip-top condition and that shows on the pitch. Footballers go through good and bad patches.

“I trained hard when things were tough and I still do.

"Ancelotti hasn't changed my game, but it's important to give a striker confidence when he isn't scoring goals, when he isn't playing well or is being whistled at by fans.

“The same goes for Deschamps and Zidane.”
