Cesc: It all depends on Barca

Cesc Fabregas believes the weekend’s results mean the destination of the League title this year is in Barcelona’s hands.

Barca beat Almeria 4-1 while Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid played out a 2-2 draw in the Madrid derby.

The results leave Madrid top, Barca second and Atletico third, with Los Blancos holding a single-point lead over La Blaugrana, who are two points clear of Los Rojiblancos.

But with the Santiago Bernabeu Clasico to come at the end of March, Fabregas believes Barca can determine their own fate.

“I think everything depends on us,” AS quotes the midfielder as saying.

“This team has world class players. For me it’s all in our heads and our feet.

“No roster has comparable talent to ours. It all depends on what we give.”

Fabregas added that the win over Almeria was an important one for a number of reasons, and took responsibility for the goal scored by Alejandro Trujillo.

“They were three vital points, to recover the sensation of winning, to close the gap [on Madrid] and to play good football,” Fabregas continued.

“It wasn’t the best game but we started well. Then came the doubts with their goal and we more concerned about defending than playing our football.

“This was one of those games were you don’t want any complications, but the goal was because of me.

“As the years have passed we’ve lost players like Yaya Toure, Thierry Henry and Seydou Keita.

“Every year we get lower in height and it shows when you have to mark someone.”

Barca next play Real Valladolid and Fabregas said the thing that concerns him most about the upcoming fixture is its scheduling.

“The match will be difficult because it is played in the afternoon, at siesta time,” he noted.
