Atletico Madrid captain Gabi has said the performance in the 2-2 draw with Real Madrid left him proud of his side.
The midfielder spoke to Canal+ after the final whistle and said that while he was disappointed with conceding a late goal, overall he was fairly happy.
“I’m left with a bad taste in the mouth,” Gabi said.
“It was a very open game, with chances for both teams, but I’m proud of Atletico Madrid.
“We wanted to give our supporters this level of intensity and desire, and I think we’ve done that.”
Gabi, scorer of Atletico’s second goal, said that Los Rojiblancos would now kick on for the rest of the season.
“We’re used to both criticism and praise. We’ll keep on working,” Gabi insisted.
“With a Clasico still to play, we have a chance to be at the top because right now we’re three points behind Madrid and, if they win, two off Barca.”
