Pique: Messi will be back to his best

Gerard Pique is confident that Lionel Messi will soon be back to his best, after being sidelined for two months with injury.

The Barcelona superstar has scored a relatively disappointing nine goals this season from 15 appearances.

But the defender has insisted that the Argentine forward will start scoring at a more regular rate soon.

“Messi will score goals, like he has done his whole life,” he told El Confidencial. “Leo’s allowed to have two or three bad games.

“He is only human. It’s not the first time that he has not appeared much in games, and then he goes on a stratospheric streak.”

The Spain international then commented on the rivalry with Real Madrid and Neymar’s start to life at Camp Nou.

“Individually, Real Madrid are superb. They have very good players. They’re going to fight for every competition they’re in, as they have done in recent years.

“I think the transfer stuff has affected Neymar less than people think. He’s come here from a different League, and that’s going to be tough for anyone.

“We’re all helping him adapt.”
