Alves: Doubters not welcome

Dani Alves has repeated his criticism of the Camp Nou crowd, arguing they don’t go to games with the mindset of Barcelona fans.

The Camp Nou was sparsely populated for the Copa del Rey win over Real Sociedad on Wednesday evening and Coach Tata Martino had said he could understand why, given the late kick-off on a work night.

Cesc Fabregas echoed Martino’s comments, conceding that late kick-offs are complicated for all supporters.

“These are difficult times for games, whether you’re Catalan or Spanish,” Fabregas told reporters.

“They have to catch buses to come. There’s always midweek games at 10 in the evening and people have to go to work the next day and take their children to school. It’s complicated for them.”

Alves however feels that Barca are better off without some fans, who he feels are too quick to criticise. The Brazilian previously described playing at Camp Nou as like an away game.

“People here can be so pessimistic. They’re not Barca fans like they claim.

“If you doubt this team then it’s best you don’t come.”
