Mata frustrated with transfer delay

Juan Mata is said to be exasperated at the delay in his move to Manchester United from Chelsea.

The Spain international has agreed a contract with the Premier League champions, said by the British Press to be a four-and-a-half-year deal worth £150,000 (€182,000) per week.

Chelsea have yet to complete the paperwork on Mata’s £37m (€45m) move, however, with the hold-up leaving Mata frustrated.

It is claimed that Chelsea will only give the go-ahead for Mata to leave Stamford Bridge once they have signed Mohamed Salah from Basel as a replacement.

Chelsea’s insistence meant that plans for Mata to travel by helicopter to Manchester for a medical on Thursday had to be scrapped.

United don’t expect the delay to turn into anything that might threaten the deal and are understood to be hopeful of signing the 25-year-old within the next 48 hours.
