Ramos a doubt for Madrid

Real Madrid could be without Sergio Ramos for the Copa del Rey game against Espanyol on Tuesday.

Coach Carlo Ancelotti told a Press conference that the centre-back has been struggling with a knee injury and he may not be risked at Cornella-El Prat.

“As of today [Ramos] is not comfortable,” Ancelotti said on Monday.

“If he improves he’ll play, if not he’ll rest,” the Italian added.

Raphael Varane is not yet ready to return to action after his long-term knee injury despite resuming training over the weekend.

Ancelotti said he expects to have Varane available for selection in the next 10 days.

It has been speculated that if Ramos is not fit to play Espanyol then Nacho would deputise in defence.
