Marcelo has said that while Real Madrid are content with their recent results they know they can’t afford to switch off.
The Brazil international made his 250th appearance for Madrid in the 5-0 win over Real Betis and drew level on points with both Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, who each play on Sunday.
“We’ve been here before,” Marcelo told reporters.
“And we know we have to keep fighting, working and winning games.
“We’re doing well but we know we can’t relax.”
Madrid saw off Betis with goals from Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema, Angel Di Maria and Alvaro Morata and Marcelo rejected the suggestion that Madrid have faced an easy set of fixtures.
“I think it’s us who decides if a game is easy or difficult.
“This was a dream result but now we must move forward and work toward our ambitions.
“Our goal is always to improve.”
