Neymar fit to play Atletico

Neymar will be part of the Barcelona squad that travels to Atletico Madrid on Saturday after recovering from illness.

The Brazil forward missed the midweek Copa del Rey win over Getafe due to gastroenteritis but was able to train later in the week.

Neymar will be considered by Tata Martino for the game at the Vicente Calderon but it’s not yet known if he will start or be used from the bench, Marca reports. A decision will be made on Friday.

He has not featured in a full game since December 17, playing only a total of 10 minutes since then, as a substitute against Elche last weekend.

Neymar was allowed to return early to Brazil for the Christmas break as he was suspended for the final game of the first half of the season.

Marca suggests that given Neymar’s lack of playing time and the form of his fellow attackers, it is likely the €57m signing from Santos will start in reserve.

It was against Atletico that Neymar made his Barca debut, in the Spanish Super Cup at the start of the season, scoring at the Calderon to give Barca the victory on away goals following the 1-1 draw in Madrid and the goalless draw at Camp Nou.
