Gastroenteritis has ruled Neymar out of Barcelona’s Copa del Rey match with Getafe as Xavi Hernandez is called up instead.
The Brazil forward’s illness was announced on Wednesday and doctors have instructed Neymar to stay at home and rest, Mundo Deportivo reports.
Midfielder Xavi has been added to Gerardo Martino’s squad in the place of Neymar. Xavi had previously been left out of the group for technical reasons, Martino preferring to keep the 33-year-old in reserve ahead of Saturday’s game against Atletico Madrid. It is not yet known if Neymar will be involved against Atleti.
Neymar has made 21 appearances for Barca so far this season, scoring nine goals, following his summer move to Camp Nou from Santos.
