Atletico Madrid are one of a number of clubs lining up a bid for Basel’s Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah.
Mundo Deportivo cites a report from Swiss newspaper Basler Zeitung that lists Diego Simeone’s side as among the suitors for the 21-year-old.
Salah is considered to be a player of great potential and rose to prominence in the Swiss club’s Champions League campaign, scoring twice against Chelsea in the group stage of this year’s competition as Basel twice beat the former holders.
Competition for Salah’s signature is fierce, however, with Atletico joined by Chelsea and their Premier League rivals Liverpool and Manchester United, as well as Bundesliga pair Bayer Leverkusen and Wolfsburg.
