Manchester United are believed to have watched a trio of Spanish stars in Sunday’s Basque derby between Real Sociedad and Athletic Bilbao.

According to Voetball International, United scout Robbie Cooke attended the game at Anoeta where he was running the rule over Bilbao’s Ander Herrera and La Real’s Antoine Griezmann and Inigo Martinez [pictured].

The Reds were linked with Herrera last summer but were put off by Los Leones’ high valuation of the 24-year-old, while boss David Moyes is understood to have been impressed by both Griezmann and Martinez during the Champions League group games between the clubs this season.

French Under-21 international Griezmann, with 12 goals in 16 La Liga games, has been in particularly sparkling form this term and is on the agenda of a number of Europe’s top clubs.

Martinez, meanwhile, handed United a win at Old Trafford earlier in the season with an unfortunate own goal but is highly rated and was called into Vicente del Bosque’s Spain squad for a friendly with Ecuador last August.
