United to miss out on La Liga pair?

Manchester United could miss out on both Fabio Coentrao and Koke in the January transfer window.

Real Madrid left-back Coentrao [pictured] looked set to join the Red Devils before the start of this season, only to see the transfer collapse at the last minute, and it is understood he is still keen on a move to England.

However, Los Blancos boss Carlo Ancelotti is reluctant to let any players leave the Santiago Bernabeu this month although, reports The Guardian, Reds’ boss David Moyes is hopeful the player’s agent Jorge Mendes can resurrect the deal for a player who has made just four La Liga starts this term.

In Koke’s case, the highly-rated Atletico Madrid midfielder is also a United target but is going nowhere, according to Atleti director of football Jose Luis Caminero.

“Koke has improved considerably and has also represented the national team, which puts him in the spotlight and opens even more eyes.

“He will stay here many years because he has Atleti in his heart,” claimed Caminero.
