Xabi Alonso is seen as meeting with Real Madrid very soon to possibly determine his future beyond this summer.
Speculation has continued to surround the 32-year-old’s intentions come June, having put off negotiations on a new contract with Madrid for the past year and now having entered the final six months of his current deal.
Able from this month to negotiate with interested parties, which reportedly include Juventus and Chelsea, the midfielder is seen as likely to meet with Los Blancos shortly to make clear his intentions.
Alonso and the club are reportedly ready to meet in the coming days, out of a believed mutual hope to avoid continued speculation and to take advantage of a quieter moment in the month, which will otherwise have midweek Cup and League fixtures to contend with.
Whilst the player is described as flattered by support from teammates and club staff in the public domain, and from the fans at the Santiago Bernabeu and open training at Valdebebas, Madrid are described by AS today as ‘pessimistic’ at the outcome of any meetings set.
