Hyypia expects Real commitment

Sami Hyypia believes that Real Sociedad will play to win in their Champions League meeting with Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday evening.

Anoeta plays host to this closing Group A fixture, with the focus entirely on the Germans, who still have qualification to the knockout phase up for grabs.

Whilst the San Sebastian side cannot finish higher than fourth in the group, Leverkusen’s Coach does not doubt the trouble they will look to cause his team.

“I am not the Coach of Real and will not know how their team will be motivated, but they are playing at home and certainly will give everything to win the match against us,” Hyypia has affirmed this week.

“I do not believe that their injury issues will make the game easier. If they have absences or not, it will give another player a chance to prove themselves.

“We do not care who is in front of us, we are focused on ourselves, which is most important.”

Leverkusen need to better Shakhtar Donetsk’s result against Manchester United to take second in the group and progression to the Last 16.

“We improved so much at the weekend at Borussia Dortmund and we want to do the same tomorrow in Anoeta.

“This is our objective. Manchester United's game is important for us and will influence our match. In any case we want to win.

“We are going to follow the Manchester United game. If in 75th minute we are still drawing with Real Sociedad and something happens in the other match we can take more risks to look for a win.

“Maybe I'll have my cell phone on the bench with me. We didn't play a good game against Manchester United, we lost 5-0, I was disappointed too, but that is football and these things happens and now we want to win.”
