‘Osasuna didn’t give up’

Javi Gracia praised his Osasuna side for not giving up in coming back from 3-0 down to snatch a draw at Malaga.

Los Rojillos faced the deficit early into the second half of their Copa del Rey Round of 32 first leg at La Rosaleda, before mounting a comeback, which was completed in spite of eventually also being reduced to 10 men.

“We have not stopped to think that we could have been eliminated. We were doing things right, we tried to improve.” Coach Gracia mused post-match.

“Those who played have done well, and now I see our chances in the tie.

“The game has seen both teams fairly contribute, it seemed unfair that we were trailing 2-0 at half-time and then conceded another goal right at the start of the second half, I saw it as offside…

“Then, most commendable is that the team has not given up, either in the first half or in the second, when we were reduced to 10 men.

“And with that inferiority we have come back into the tie, I am happy. The tie is open and continues to give us a chance.”
