Arrasate promises Real motivation

Jagoba Arrasate has assured that Real Sociedad want to end their European adventure with three points at home to Bayer Leverkusen.

The San Sebastian outfit cannot finish better than their current position of last in Group A of the Champions League this season, having picked up only the one point from their first five matches of the competition.

However, their Coach has ensured that for Tuesday’s visit of Bayer Leverkusen, who need to better Shakhtar Donetsk’s result at Manchester United to take second, motivation is still there.

“We know that it is an important match for Bayer Leverkusen but we want to win too. The objective is to finish the group stage with a win,” Arrasate has told reporters today.

“I think Real Sociedad have deserved more points in this Champions League but the merits do not count. Motivation comes by itself. All players want to play these games.

“We face an opponent who follow Bayern closely in the German league and who won at Borussia Dortmund at the weekend.

“It is an attractive opponent, an attractive competition and an attractive environment. The team is motivated and will make a good effort to finish with a win.

“Our fans deserve a win, we will make an effort tomorrow as there is enough time to recover for the Real Betis match [next Sunday].”
