Reports in the English media suggest that Manchester United are keen to return to try and sign Ander Herrera from Athletic Bilbao this January.
The Red Devils were linked with a number of Spanish-based midfielders over the summer, including an unsuccessful deadline day bid for Athletic’s 24-year-old.
The Guardian report today that United boss David Moyes is keen to strengthen in midfield during the midseason winter transfer window and is prepared to try again for Herrera.
Whilst the Basque Country outfit indicated in the summer that only an offer at the player’s buyout clause of €36m would allow United to sign him, the English side are reportedly keen to try to bid once more below that, amid the player’s struggles for regular playing time so far this term under Ernesto Valverde.
Whilst Herrera has commented recently of his desire to focus only on Athletic, the indications in England are that he is still open to a possible move to Old Trafford.
