Rayo in for Atleti double loan

Rayo Vallecano are reportedly already in talks with Atletico Madrid over possible loan deals for Leo Baptistao and Jose Maria Gimenez.

Baptistao only moved from Rayo to Atleti in the summer, after an impressive 2012-13 at Vallecas, but has struggled through injury and competition for places to feature regularly so far under Diego Simeone.

Meanwhile, Uruguayan international Gimenez has also been on the periphery for the season, managing just the one appearance in La Liga this term, back in September.

SER Deportivos are surmising this week that Rayo are in advanced talks to take the young duo on loan from January.

It is understood that part of Baptistao’s original sale to Atleti included a clause giving Rayo priority on any possible future loan of the player out of the Calderon.

For Gimenez, however, it is understood that Atleti approached Rayo first with the offer to take the 18-year-old on a temporary deal.

Both deals would include no purchase option for Paco Jemez’s team, whilst Gimenez’s switch would come despite another rumour suggesting that an unnamed Russian club have come in with a bid to sign him outright.
