Gabi Fernandez has assured that Atletico Madrid will not drop in focus or effort when facing Zenit St Petersburg this week.
Los Colchoneros are out in Russia for the fifth day of the Champions League group stage having already assured top spot in Group G.
Whilst it also means that Diego Simeone has rested a number of first team stars from the travelling party, the team’s captain has assured performance levels will not drop.
“We feel as usual. Our team always plays to win,” Gabi told reporters at the pre-game conference today
“It is important for our honour and the reputation of the club, so no matter who comes out on to the field tomorrow, we are going to try and take the points.
“We have a very cohesive team and this is manifested in the locker room and on the field and it helps us win.
“We are used to the pressure from the stands, Zenit have good fans and this factor will only spur us on.
“The result depends only on us.”
