Luis Garcia laments Atletico mauling

Luis Garcia revealed that his players were ‘down’ after the 7-0 humiliation at the hands of Atletico Madrid at the Vicente Calderon.

However, the Getafe boss believed it was the expulsion of defender Juan Valera for a second bookable offence before the break that ultimately changed the course of the match.

“Until the first goal we had what we wanted but after that the game opened up. The second goal and the sending off made it very difficult for us.

“Now we must move on and look to the next game. The dressing room is very down,” he told a Press conference.

“Before we visited the Calderon we were the team that had conceded the fourth fewest goals in the division, but today we let in seven.

“There is a big difference in this League. Barca got four, Madrid five and now Atletico seven. It’s true that La Liga is boring.

“Publicly I’m not going to say anything about my players. I now have to pick them up and encourage them.

“We will prepare for the game against Levante on Friday and try and make sure we are at 100 per cent.”
