Madrid welcome back Marcelo

Real Madrid have had their left-back concerns eased today with the return to training of Brazilian Marcelo.

The 25-year-old has been out of action for the past week with a knee injury sustained and was seen as a doubt to make the weekend trip to Almeria.

However, the player was back to a normal training routine in Thursday morning’s session at Valdebebas, which also saw the return of Madrid’s international players.

Marcelo’s return may ease concerns at left-back for Carlo Ancelotti, who has Fabio Coentrao on the sidelines with a grade I strain to his thigh and positional stand-in Alvaro Arbeloa said to be suffering discomfort in the same muscle.

The Spain international, however, did work as normal alongside his teammates, with Cristiano Ronaldo working separately and Raphael Varane in the gym after suffering with his knee again whilst with France.
