‘Messi’s injury will help him’

Former Argentina fitness Coach Fernando Signorini believes Lionel Messi’s hamstring injury could turn out to be a blessing in disguise.

The Barcelona star has been ruled out for the rest of 2013 but Signorini, who was with the Albiceleste during the 2010 World Cup, feels it could help him in terms of next year’s tournament in Brazil.

“This break will be good for him to relax and unwind while demands are placed on other players. Leo will get better and learn to manage his anxieties and emotions, “he told the DPA agency.

“Messi had reached a limit and he will react to it. Because the injury is eight months before the World Cup it favours him because it gives him a chance to recover both physically and mentally.”

Signorini said some weeks ago, before his injury, that it would be a miracle if Messi was able to reach his peak in Brazil, and he explained his reasoning.

“It was a feeling I had because of the fixture list he was facing and the travelling he was doing to satisfy business interests, on top of a marathon four years of games.”
