Reports in England are speculating that Manchester United are weighing up bids for either Real Madrid’s Xabi Alonso or Barcelona’s Andres Iniesta.
The Daily Star are running the line that Alonso is being targeted by The Red Devils, who are looking to attract him back to the Premier League for next summer at the expiry of his current contract with Madrid.
It is alleged that United’s interest is mirrored by the likes of Chelsea and Juventus, and has already seen David Moyes’ side open up negotiations with the 31-year-old.
However, The Daily Mail believe that United are looking at a January move for Andres Iniesta, amid his stalled contract negotiations with Barcelona.
The English publication suggest that the situation at the Camp Nou between the player and his club is developing into an ‘increasing rift’ and that United believe a bid this midseason may be successful.
The Premier League outfit were linked with a number of midfielders in the Spanish market over the summer, but proved unsuccessful in their efforts.
