Griezmann back in France contention

Antoine Griezmann’s form for Real Sociedad has Didier Deschamps ‘very attentive’ and ready to consider him for next summer’s World Cup.

The 22-year-old is currently serving a 13-month suspension from representing Les Bleus at any level after indiscipline during the Under-21s’ eventual 2013 European Championship play-off defeat to Norway.

With that ban due to end on December 31, 2013, Griezmann’s improved form of late for La Real has the France Coach ready to consider him for a first call to the senior squad.

“I know him very well, and I am very attentive to his performances,” Deschamps has told Telefoot this week.

“He is decisive. He is setting up a lot of goals and is scoring also. At the end of his suspension, he is likely to be a player to join the France squad.”

Griezmann’s recent form, which included Real Sociedad’s goal in their 5-1 defeat at the weekend to Real Madrid, has drawn a noncommittal response on his future at the club.
