Pardo: Still not enough

Ruben Pardo reflected that the Real Sociedad dressing room was ‘pretty down’ despite having held Manchester United to a goalless draw.

La Real picked up their first point of the Champions League group stages this term with the 0-0 at Anoeta on Tuesday evening, thanks predominantly to Robin van Persie missing a penalty and both the Dutchman and Javier Hernandez missing clear opportunities in front of goal.

However, for one of the team’s young midfielders, there is little consolation in the result which keeps the San Sebastian outfit bottom of Group A.

“Frankly, the boys are pretty down because despite us getting a draw against a team that made things really difficult for us, it still leaves us on the verge of being eliminated,” mused Pardo post-match to UEFA’s official website.

“Little by little you can see that we are improving, although we know there is plenty left to achieve.

“Giggs showed he is still at the top, top level. What a fantastic player. For me he is an absolute star. Look at his age and how he can still perform at this level.”
