Gianluigi Buffon paid tribute to Iker Casillas, whilst reflecting on the positives that Juventus can take from their performances against Real Madrid.
After defeat at the Santiago Bernabeu two weeks ago, the Italians earned a 2-2 draw at home to Los Blancos this week, but face a challenge to progress from Group B of the Champions League, as they sit bottom on three points.
For their captain, though, the team must take heart from their performances against Madrid.
“Our situation is very similar to the one of last season,” mused Buffon to reporters post-match, in reference to the team progressing from their group last year after drawing the first three matches.
“I think we can regret other points we left along our path, not those against Real Madrid. Playing at the same level as them is not something many team can do.
“They have incredible players, every time they pass the midfield line you have to be worried. They have players who can score in any moment of the game.
“Copenhagen proved they are not a weak side by beating Galatasaray tonight. We will have to beat them in our next game. It will not be easy and I don't think that Galatasaray will definitely lose against Madrid either.
“Here [Iker] Casillas was superb – he made three great save allowing his side to earn a point.”
